Steven S. Lumetta, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is leading a $2.6 million project involving several top research universities and technology companies to develop new computer hardware and software to handle the flood of data coming from the ability of biologists to sequence individual human genomes.
